1788 Residences, Double Bay, the recipient & WINNER of the Master Builders Association NSW 2022 Excellence in Housing Award for Home Units $3 Million and over.

The ULTRA Building Co team were delighted to receive the MBA Award at the NSW 2022 Excellence in Housing Gala Event on Friday 11th November. Also, nominated as finalist in the Master Builders Australia National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards in the CBUS National High Rise Apartment Building category, up against some industry leaders such as; Hickory and Multiplex.

1788 Residences is receiving well earned recognition for its superior craftsmanship and quality of the building, the judging panel commented “One of the most impressive features of this build is the Façade, which underwent lightweight cladding, to face brick veneer, to rendered blockwork, to metal cladding and louvres…the construction was innovative and progressive, combining many new ideas to achieve an end product that does not have a like in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney”.

NSW Building Commissioner Site Tour - 1788 Residences

ULTRA Building Co. hosted a site tour on Tuesday 8th November at 1788 Residences, Double Bay with special guest, NSW Building Commissioner, David Chandler OAM.

The team took the Commissioner on a walk around stage 1 of the project, discussing the importance of iCIRT accreditations and, demonstrating ULTRA’s capabilities in recognition of receiving the iCIRT*** rating. In particular the building’s basement construction which implemented an industry benchmark for innovation and engineering.

Our newly appointed General Manager, Elliot Howse, shared his perspective on joining a team that is holding steadfast within the industry as a ‘best practice’ leader and, the positive recognition that ULTRA is now receiving with the likes of the latest MBA Excellence in Housing Award for Home Units $3 Million and over.

ULTRA Building Co.’s vision to diversify its project mix in 2023 and the future, is supported by our iCIRT**** rating and as we continue to drive our vision.

SCAFFOLD SAFETY TRAINING
ULTRA Building Co The First Company To Complete Training With Keaton Owen.

Ultra Building Co had the pleasure of being the first company to complete the Scaffold Safety Training, with Keaton Owen on Wednesday 16th November. ULTRA Team members from across all ULTRA Building Co projects came together to learn and gain a better understanding about what looks good and what looks bad in the world of Scaffolding, as well as take a deep dive into the Scaffold Safety Information Guide.

The guide (pictured) is such a great tool, with illustrations and important content from including everything from standards to Regulatory Guidance presented in an easy to follow format.

Developing a safety first culture means imprinting the highest levels of safe work practices across all job functions. The ultimate benefit is reducing any workplace incidents. Creating a strong safety culture does not just improve safety, but benefits productivity, staff retention and overall organisational behavior.

It is our focus to remain committee to safety and continue regular safety education.

AKOYA, NORTH SYDNEY

Disassemble tower crane in preparation for handover.

As Akoya, North Sydney approaches completion we have commenced several major temporary works disestablishment activities  starting with the dismantling of the onsite crane. Grabbing a rare a gap in the recent weather, this took place on the 19th of September and was a project in and of itself due to the complex installation within the lift core, coupled with the challenging logistics within the narrow Doohat Avenue.   Taking full advantage of the large mobile crane establishment, a prefabricated a precast shaft lid was craned in reduced the need for formwork or scaffold in the lift core and increasing the speed of the lift subsequent lift installation.  

The safe and successful outcome was the product of significant pre-planning; from obtaining the various planning approvals and permits required to undertaking extensive methodology reviews through a series of High-Risk Workshops involving key participants in the activity well ahead of time.

This represents a significant project milestone and is an achievement the ULTRA Building Co. project team should be proud of given the complexities. The attention to detail and commitment to preparation and planning is greatly appreciated.

SWAN SUITES, MASCOT

Project win - Mascot Commercial Project in conjunction with Developer, Markuan Group.

ULTRA Building Co. is pleased to confirm the recent execution of the contract for Swan Suites, Mascot.  Developed by Markuan Group, it is a boutique strata development, one of only three strata commercial buildings in Mascot. Designed by Koichi Takada Architects, the 11 storey office tower features 617 m² floor plates with expansive floor to ceiling glass on 3 sides and a solid interior wall.

The stunning, environmentally friendly development has been designed to combine a focus on wellbeing and natural aesthetics with distinctive architecture. The heat-absorbing glass, solar panel technologies, non-contact lift, and end of trip facilities all contribute to make this project a standout development in Sydney.

Construction commenced with a Groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday 20th October 2022.
A special ‘thank you’ to the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council for conducting today’s traditional smoking ceremony.

1788 Residences is a high-end boutique development in the heart of Double Bay. With its unique architecture and interior design delivered with progressive and innovative construction techniques, we believe it’s a strong contender.

“The project was established in a flood zone, requiring considerable planning for construction and longevity of the project. The Basements Hydrostatic Slab and Basement Shoring Wall System were some of this projects’ key elements, built entirely below the water-table. The two-level basement was excavated in water charged sand 9m under the water line, requiring installation of a waterproof TSM piling wall around the perimeter. This allowed for effective dewatering and construction of a high-quality hydrostatic slab within the lowest basement level.”

Carl joined ULTRA Building Co. in September as Senior Construction Manager

 With 30 + years’ industry experience in senior leadership positions with organisations such as; Built, Toga, Growthbuilt and, most recently, Renascent, Carl is well versed in all aspects of project delivery.

Working alongside Adrian Sicari and Elliot Howse, he will provide strategic advice and support projects in the final run to completion, mitigating any foreseeable issues, risks and ultimately successfully close out our pipeline of developments for 2022.

KICK 4 CONSTRUCTION

Soccer Tournament raising funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia.

Over the past 6 weeks ULTRA Building Co.’s very own A League Soccer Team has been taking part in a fun industry initiative for a very meaningful cause, to raise funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia.  Along with half a dozen other construction organizations we battled it out on the field to take home the Championship Trophy and declare ourselves the winner in the inaugural tournament.

Not only was it a great team building and enjoyable social activity for the entire squad, but we were also able to raise much needed funds for a worthy charity.  For over 30 years’ This is Starlight Foundation has used play, social connection, and creativity to support children and young people in some of their toughest times and to positively change their healthcare experience. Working in partnership to deliver the best possible care for children and young people across the whole country, so that they can live their best lives.
